About EarlySpark

Strong reading foundations change what’s possible.

EarlySpark Foundation is dedicated to helping children become capable, confident readers. We bring together effective teaching, supportive educators and engaging learning resources so literacy can take root and grow.

We believe every learner deserves the chance to build essential reading skills at the right pace, with encouragement and instruction that meet them where they are. We work with schools, families, communities and partners to make that belief real.

To advance literacy by helping children build the foundational reading skills and confidence to learn, participate and thrive.

Our vision

A future where every child can read with understanding and use literacy to pursue their fullest potential.

Our work

Practical support for lasting literacy.

We focus on the foundations of reading and the people and environments that help children make progress.

01

Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL)

TaRL groups learners by their current learning level and teaches foundational skills through focused, engaging activities. Regular assessment helps educators adapt instruction as learners progress.

Learner-centred instruction
02

Teacher development

Practical training, coaching and peer learning help educators deliver effective literacy instruction with confidence.

03

Reading resources & practice

Accessible, age-appropriate materials and opportunities to read help learners practise and build fluency and understanding.

Intended impact

Progress children can carry into every subject.

Our intended impact is rooted in measurable progress in foundational literacy and stronger support for the adults who help children learn.

We will share programme results as they are measured; the outcomes below describe our aims, not claimed results.
